"Skinimalism", The Biggest Beauty Trend to Take Place by Storm

"Skinimalism", the major beauty trend in 2021. The trend of giving emphasis on a minimal skincare routine and showing your naturally glowing skin. There may be some flaws or imperfections in your skin. Without hiding them under heavy contouring or full coverage foundations, just show them off with natural everyday makeup.

"Less is more" — the concept of skinimalism is based on these three words. You can't deny the fact that the definition of beauty has been changed a bit in the post-lockdown year. During lockdown, we were compelled to stay indoors for almost half of the year, 2020. The trend of minimalistic skincare ritual has emerged since this time. We started using fewer skincare products and simplifying our routine using only the items our skin needs the most. So, it's all about simplifying and being more conscious about your daily regime.

Well, let's simplify our skincare and focus on the well-being of our skin. Actually, since teenage, I have believed in minimalistic skincare rituals and natural looking makeup. Two things I have never skipped, the basic CTM routine and the Sunscreen. I always look for the items those are multitaskers to give that all natural glow with healthy, nourished complexion. This is the secret of my youthful, flawless complexion.

Skinimalist Skincare Ritual:

Well, let's scroll down to know how to get naturally glowing skin only with few steps.

1. Simplify your regime:

Never skip these three steps — clean, tone and moisturize (in the morning wear a moisturizer with SPF). These are the basic steps to ensure an effective care for the largest organ. You don't need to use it more than 3-4 items. Use a cleanser (powdered one specifically) that will act as a cleanser cum exfoliating agent cum mask. Also you can use micellar water as they will remove your makeup besides cleansing. Either use face mist or oil alternatively to keep yourself moisturized or hydrated. The last step will be either a serum or a moisturizer as your skin needs for that naturally glowing complexion.

2. Back to basics:

It's all about going back to basic products or ingredients that worked well in the past. For example, Nivea cream or Boroline. I've grown up watching my mom using Nivea cream for face and body while Boroline for lips, feet and other dry areas. My childhood as well as teenage were spent applying them. So, why not let them enter my closet again?

3. Skip-care:

Let's get rid of all those 7-steps or 10-steps regime everyday. Rather choose a few stuff that will do the trick. Sometimes this minimal routine will help your skin breathe and reveal that natural, healthy and nourished tone and texture you always dream of. Though, skinimalism doesn't allow you to skip the sun protection creams. A sunblock cream with SPF 30 atleast is a necessity. This will protect your skin from the harmful UV rays while preventing premature aging and other skin woes.

4. Don't hide, treat:

Days are gone when you would hide your imperfections under concealers, heavy foundations or contouring. The time has come to show your pores, acne breakouts or freckles. Only the light layer of a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream can show the natural radiance of your face while providing a dewy look. So, instead of hiding them try to get those flaws treated. Keep faith on your grandma's homemade skincare. If you're getting some severe problems, visit a dermatologist.

5. Homemade Skincare:

Let's have a look at the kitchen staple. Do you know milk is a fantastic ingredient for "glowing up"? No matter what your skin type is, milk can do wonders. It mildly exfoliates, soothes sensitive skin, hydrates and brightens up dull and dehydrated face. Oats, honey, coffee powder, green tea, coconut oil are some wonderful ingredients to achieve natural glow. Cucumber, potato are there to help you calm and soothe inflamed skin, reduce blemishes while helping you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. You can mix and match any of them to cleanse, tone or exfoliate. Honey works well to provide you with soft, pink and plump lips.

6. Natural Everyday Makeup:

After completing a year with less or no makeup, people have started loving natural everyday makeup. They're picking up tinted moisturizer or BB/CC cream, an eyeliner, mascara and multitaskers like lip and cheek tints that can be used as an eyeshadow, blush and also as the lipstick. So, there's no fixing of flaws, no covering them under the layers of products, simply showing the"real you".

Let me know your thoughts on Skinimalism. Don't you think you can encourage a sustainable beauty routine in this way?
