Review: Soapstories India Botanical Cleansing Oil

Do you know it'd be a game changer to incorporate Cleansing Oils in your everyday CTM routine? It's highly beneficial to your skin's texture and appearance. So, today I have come with the review of a cleansing oil that I've been using on and off for one month. This is the new launch from Soapstories India, a brand working on Instagram.

Cleansing oil, double cleansing, clear skin, soothing

I received this Botanical Cleansing Oil during Diwali (thanks Madhu for this surprise gift 😌). I wanted to test this product properly, so that I can share my honest opinion. That's why I have taken this much time to review it. Well, let's dive into a detailed review.

About the product: Soapstories India Botanical Cleansing Oil:

From the heading, you might have got that it's a cleansing oil. It's meant for removing makeup, sunscreen and residue from everyday pollutants in the first cleanse. This gentle oil can be used everyday. It's suitable for dry, sensitive skin.

"This mild emulsifying cleansing oil is the blend of luxurious plant-based oils to cleanse skin gently and lift impurities while soothing the skin. It emulsifies in contact with water and wash off completely leaving behind a soft, clean and healthy skin."

How to use:

Massage a few drops into dry skin using circular movements. Leave it on for a few moments and rinse it off with water. Pat dry.

How I use:

It comes in a transparent plastic bottle with flip top. It has a simplistic look that you'll find beautiful. It does look fantastic when I keep it on my dressing table. And another good thing about a transparent bottle is that you can easily check how much product is remaining. You can plan for your next purchase accordingly.

You just have to pour it on your palms. Effectively 3-4 drops are enough to cleanse your face. Then I rub it onto my face in soft strokes to melt off makeup and impurities. While rubbing, I mix a bit of water to create a light milky cleanser.

Price: ₹ 520 for 90 ml. You can get it here

My Impression:

It has a golden yellow colour and appears clear while applying on the skin. The consistency remains in between runny and thick and feels light on skin. It doesn't leave any mess after dispensing.  Once it is emulsified with water, it feels even lighter. The product has a very sweet smell that's natural and mild. Though, I can't say what exactly the smell is like. It's a citrusy, refreshing fragrance.

At night I use it as the first cleanse in my double cleansing ritual. While using this on my face with makeup, it melts them off well. Even if I don't wear make-up, I use it. As, every morning applying a good sunscreen is the must. I've found this cleanser to remove sunscreen effectively. I really like how gentle it's felt on my skin. I personally recommend using a wet cotton pad to wipe off the residue followed by rinsing with water. I find this effective to cleanse the face properly instead of rinsing straight away, as it leaves a thin oil film. After that, I use the water-based cleansers (read powder cleansers) to thoroughly remove the leftover makeup, impurities and get a clean face to start the night ritual.

After washing it off, I haven't felt any tightness or dryness on the skin. What's really amazing about this product is that my face feels clean, refreshed and soft afterwards. I'm totally in love with this product.

I'd highly recommend this oil to the persons with sensitive skin, especially whose skin tends to have redness pretty easily. Its soothing nature will be helpful for you.

    1. First use oil to remove make-up and SPF, then wash off everything with facewash. This is double cleansing to get your skin properly cleansed.
