10 Simple Beauty Tips During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the beginning of a new chapter of your life. During this period, you may go through a lot of differences either physical or emotional. Your skin and hair may lose their natural glow due to the hormonal changes. These are all natural and also temporary. Most of the skin woes disappear post pregnancy. There's nothing to be worried about. Rather you can introduce some necessary yet simple beauty care steps into your daily routine.

Usually, during this phase of your life you will find a natural glow on your face. This is called Pregnancy Glow. May be some of you are not so lucky. You can notice excessive dryness or dry patches while some may face the problems of rashes or hormonal acne, hyperpigmentation. These are called The Mask of Pregnancy. Even I also faced some angry breakouts around my nose and jawline. Though it didn't make me feel worried much. My sole concern was then my health so that I can give birth to a healthy baby.

What I did, just made some changes in my beauty regime. You all might know some ingredients are a big no for safe and healthy pregnancy. Let's start talking about it.

Simple Skincare Tips During Pregnancy:

1. Go for all-natural:

Before starting your regime, please ensure that you're not putting any chemicals on your skin. If you want to adjust your routine, give a pause to retinol, some acids like salicylic, beta-hydroxy, chemical-laden products, laser treatment, peeling and added fragrance or colorants. It's my suggestion to consult a doctor before starting this. And also try some homemade recipes.

2. Keep faith in basics:

At this time don't go for any elaborate regime. Gentle and basic skincare is the key. Twice a day clean your face with a gentle, soap-less cleanser. For toning, pick up rosewater or you can skip this step. Moisturizing is a must to avoid dryness and consequent skin problems, like dry patches, itching, and even acne. Pick up a moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C and clean ingredients. This will give you a hydrated, bright and fresh looking skin. I would suggest not to consider any moisturizer with essential oils.

3. Sunscreen is a must:

Applying adequate sunscreen is an important addition to reduce pigmentation or brown patches. Pigmentation may occur due to the excessive production of melanin. You can notice some brown patches on your forehead, cheekbones or on upper lips. Though these may disappear post pregnancy. Brands like Re'equil, Fuschia, StBotanica, Biotique, VLCC, WOW Skin Science, Plum, Just Herb's are offering some fantastic options to incorporate in your morning skincare.

4. Acne Treatment:

Those who are prone to acne, especially during menstrual circle, are likely to experience this. Hormonal ups and downs during this time will lead to breakouts. It happens mostly during the first trimester. Don't worry, these are normal and may disappear after. The treatments you normally try to treat your acne may not be safe when you are carrying your baby. So, go and see a dermat or just pick up some home remedies. I also experienced breakouts during my first trimester and would try some ingredients from the kitchen.

Take a few drops of lemon or lime juice and apply on the targeted area. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wash it off and apply a hydrating moisturizer. You can make a paste of basil, neem and honey to apply on the face and neck and rinse off after 8-10 minutes.

5. Stretch Marks:

Almost all of us face this problem. Some may be very lucky not having this. Your skin has a certain elasticity, if it is overstretched, white or red patches occur. You can't avoid them. If you take care from the very beginning, you can lessen their appearance. Though they never disappear completely. So, it becomes important to moisturize your skin daily with olive oil or coconut oil and rosehip oil blend to get rid off dryness. Rich body lotions containing coconut oil, hyaluronic acid, cocoa butter and aloe vera are good to keep your skin hydrated and soft. I would use mustard oil throughout the period. Whatever oil or lotion you're going to apply, ensure that they might be all-natural.

6. Pigmentation:

This also occurs due to hormonal imbalances. As you already know that sunscreen is the best remedy for the dark or brown patches on different parts of your skin. I'll suggest you to apply a serum with hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and E as a bonus. This will not only reduce your pigmentations, but will hydrate, brighten and improve your skin texture. You can check out with StBotanica and Recast

A face pack using milk, turmeric and honey may do miracle. This will help in reducing inflammation giving you a clear complexion.

 7. Makeup:

Keep your makeup scene as simple as possible. Skip putting on loads of makeup and clog your pores. It's better to hide all your skin imperfections under the happiness of becoming the mom. Try a tinted moisturizer or BB cream instead of foundation. To hide the acne or brown patches pick up a concealer, wear a mascara and finish with a tinted lipgloss. Make sure that all the products are free from all toxins.

8. Drink Plenty of Water:

This was the first thing my doctor prescribed when I was expecting. So, stay healthy and hydrated, drink plenty of water. Adequate water intake will decrease constipation and the risk of UTI, keep you cooler, flush out toxins, and soften skin.

9. Eat Right:

Plan a balanced diet chart according to your doctor's advice. Keep lots of vegetables and fruits and limit your caffeine in your diet. This not only keeps you healthy, but also gives your skin an amazing glow.

10. Sleep Tight:

Get adequate sleep. 8 hours sound sleep is what you need to keep yourself healthy. This will reduce your dark circles while giving you a happy, radiant complexion. During first two trimesters you may sleep more than your normal sleep duration. As the time goes by you're going to experience interrupted sleep. To overcome this, I would sleep on my left side or place a pillow between my legs. Try to sleep or take short naps whenever possible. I think it may help you to improve your sleep. If your struggle persists, consult your doctor.

Finally, enjoy every bit of this period with a smiling face. This is the best time of every woman's life. So be happy and pamper yourself. You will look beautiful naturally.
