Aarohi Apricot Oil: Benefits and Uses

Apricot oil, benefits, uses, healthy

Apricot oil is not just useful for maintaining the silky smooth and youthful appearance of the skin; it also aids in treating a number of skin concerns including acne, itching and a number of other irritations. It's a miracle oil for dehydrated, distressed and mature skin.

If you know me, you might be knowing how much I love using oils on my skin. Mine is combo-oily skin, yet I use them. Oil doesn't leave my skin greasy or oily, nor does it cause breakouts. Instead it gives me a luminous glow that only a healthy skin can have. Why do you then avoid using oils and deprive your skin of such nourishing food?

You cannot also ignore the bonus of applying 2-3 drops of oil under makeup. It gives a dewy and illuminated look to make your foundation work the best. In fact, facial oils can sometimes be the solution to oily skin. The matter is you have to choose the right one for your skin type.

However, I gave apricot oil a try and today's post is about how much I enjoy using this versatile oil. I apply this on my face, body and hair, either alone or mixing with other oils (carrier or essential). Let's get into it.

End of March this year we went to Kausani, Uttarakhand celebrating Holi festival. Each year we visit Himalayan region to celebrate Holi, just as we went to Dhanolti last year. We stayed at KMVN resort and I discovered there a shop selling local produce, like apricot oil and oil based soaps, and other skincare products among all from an NGO Aarohi. I was totally unaware of this organisation and started searching on Google. Let me tell you what I have learnt about them.

Aarohi is an NGO with the mission to create development opportunities for rural Himalayan communities through quality healthcare and education, enterprise promotion, women empowerment, sustainable natural resource use and the revival of culture. The organisation has its headquarters at Satoli in Nainital district, Uttarakhand.

I bought Apricot oil, an apricot oil based body cream and scrub soaps (Geranium, Vetiver and Rosemary) also containing apricot oil. In this post, I am going to share my experience with the Apricot oil.

Different Uses of Aarohi Apricot Oil:

And, I am very happy with the purchase of this oil. It's a versatile, lightweight and fast absorbing  formula that offers deep moisturization from head to toe.

This is a light golden coloured oil with a faint nutty flavour. With its various moisturizing and nourishing benefits, apricot oil can provide a rejuvenating effect on skin and hair.

I use it as a daily moisturizer, before heading to bed. Sometimes I mix it with Rosehip and Lavender essential oil and apply all over my body, giving special attention to elbows, knees and feet. I've been using this for almost two months. Now my complexion looks more gorgeous, soft and moisturized.

As a scrub, I mix with oats and honey and apply on face and body. After 3-4 minutes, massage with gentle strokes for having deeply cleansed skin. Once a week I go for scrubbing and my complexion has become so fresh and clear now.

Twice a month a girl comes to my house to give me a body massage. Before lockdown has started, I tried Aarohi apricot oil as the massage oil and result was so good. Now it's me to massage with the oil. The light and thin oil penetrates deep into the skin and aid in getting rid of stress, inflammation and pain. And the bonus benefit is its sweet, refreshing fragrance. Trust me, this massage gives me a good night sleep!

My younger son has body acne. Thanks to this amazing oil. I use it as the spot treatment on his active acne and it immediately soothes and calms the skin. Slowly his acne scene is improving.

Another use is on my scalp and hair. It's my favorite Pre-poo treatment. First, I warm the oil, then apply on scalp and hair and keep for atleast 45 minutes. Wash off with a mild shampoo to get soft and easily manageable hair and healthy scalp.

Do you know apricot oil is a great carrier oil for infusion of herbs? I have made an infusion with the herbs like nettle, rosemary, thyme and sage and the botanicals like tulsi and neem leaves and hibiscus flowers and leaves.

There are more other uses of this oil, like treating dry, brittle nails, using around eyes, on dry, chapped lips. As I haven't used, can't say how much helpful apricot oil is! If you have used, please let me know your thoughts.
