Grapeseed Oil: Benefits and 5 Healthy Uses.

Grapeseed oil, benefits, healthy skin

For a lot of people, using oils in their skincare regime is a scary or counter-intuitive concept. The oily or combination skin people think of them as pore clogging agent. But the truth is if you can choose the right oils that actually can regulate sebum production by hydrating your skin and penetrate the surface to deliver key vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. Believe me, everyone irrespective of skin type, age, skin concern can use oils anywhere on the face or body. You knew, I am a person with combination and acne prone skin, yet use oils on the face and body.

Grapeseed oil, benefits, healthy skin

Today, I am going to talk about such an oil, recently I have incorporated into my skincare regime. That is Grapeseed Oil.
Packed with Vitamin E and omega 6 fatty acids, it becomes most appreciated oil in the beauty industry. It can improve overall skin health, fight ageing, heal acne, and improve dry and damaged hair.

Grapeseed oil is processed by cold-pressing the grape seeds of the plant. Being the by-product of winemaking, the seeds are mostly used to extract the oil. This penetrative yet lightweight oil helps with dry or dehydrated skin without clogging pores. Also fights dandruff and dry scalp, by moisturizing and nourishing hair follicles.

Benefits of using Grapeseed Oil:

  • Moisturizes skin
  • Heals acne
  • Lightens age spots caused by sun damage.
  • Protects skin from ultraviolet rays.
  • Helps tighten and tone skin.
  • Shrinks pores
  • Works as cleanser
  • Removes make up
  • Reduces the appearance of scars
  • Condition dry scalp and hair
  • Treats dandruff
  • Adds moisture, strength and shine to hair follicles.

How to Use on Skin and Hair:

1. I use the it as part of my oil cleansing method mixing with jojoba and avocado oils. Massage the mixture for one minute and wipe off with a wet washcloth or wet tissue. Massage with circular motion. It will help break up dirt, oil, and residue. You can also use it alone. I do and the same result I have experienced. After that wash your face with a water based cleanser.

2. To soothe my dry hands, I mix with regular moisturizer and massage into my hands for a few minutes and go to bed.

3. To get rid of tan, I mix the oil with aloe vera gel. If you have oily skin, it's the best option. I do suggest dry skin people to add honey to the mixture. Apply the mixture after cleansing and toning as a sleeping mask. Wake up with a brighter, softer and clear skin.

4. Sometimes, I simply add it to my daily moisturizer and apply at night to get up with moisturized and hydrated skin.

5. I also use it as my pre-poo treatment mixing with Neem leaves powder, Curry leaves powder and Tulsi leaves powder. I keep this mask for 1 hour on my scalp and hair. Then wash off with a herbal shampoo. You can also apply the oil alone on your scalp and hair 30 minutes before using shampoo.

Grapeseed oil has antibacterial and astringent properties. So, it's excellent for oily, combination and acne prone skin. As it's lightweight, absorbs into the skin easily and doesn't clog pores. Actually, Grapeseed oil is safe for all skin types. So go ahead! Don't hesitate to keep a bottle in your beauty ritual. It is esthetician’s favourite too.

Where to buy:

Whenever you buy grapeseed oil, don't buy chemically extracted one. Always look for cold-pressed options. It must be packed in a dark coloured glass bottle. I suggest to buy Organix Mantra organic cold-pressed grapeseed oil.
